[13:41] <hpottinger> hey, mhwood, is it an "early meeting" week?
[13:41] <hpottinger> oh, shoot, time change...
[13:42] <hpottinger> this would have been a good week to send a reminder out to folks about the time change, heh

[13:45] <hpottinger> wanna moderate this week, mhwood?
[13:50] * peterdietz (uid52203@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-ggcdjugfraomwqyy) has joined #duraspace
[13:50] <hpottinger> Well, I'm going to e-mail a last-minute reminder, meeting starts at 15UTC (about an hour and ten minutes from now)
[13:50] <hpottinger> morning, peterdietz!
[13:51] <hpottinger> so... who wants to post an agenda for today's meeting?
[13:52] <hpottinger> here's your chance to shape the course of DSpace! or, well, the course of today, kinda
[13:52] <pbecker> hpottinger: I thought Pull Requests were my chance to do so. ;-)
[13:53] <peterdietz> Posting agenda = shouting iceberg. PR's = actually steering the titanic away from iceberg. PR's wanted
[14:03] <hpottinger> hey, stick DS-2487 on that agenda, yeah?
[14:03] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2487 ] - [DS-2487] Pre-5 Solr usage stats geo information may get lost when upgrading to 5 - DuraSpace JIRA
[14:04] <hpottinger> backlog hour will be at 16UTC (after the meeting wraps up)
[14:06] <hpottinger> reminder e-mail sent
[14:06] <hpottinger> thanks for the help with the agenda!
[14:52] <helix84> hi
[14:58] <hpottinger> two minutes til meeting time
[14:58] <hpottinger> mhwood: this gavel has your name on it, want it?
[14:59] * hpottinger wanders off, needs tea
[15:01] <mhwood> Apparently I've been elected moderator by acclamation of one. Give me a moment to find the agenda.
[15:02] <hpottinger> back
[15:04] <mhwood> Ah. No agenda. I see that someone wanted DS-2487 to be on it. Shall we start there? [Apologies for being disorganized.]
[15:04] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2487 ] - [DS-2487] Pre-5 Solr usage stats geo information may get lost when upgrading to 5 - DuraSpace JIRA
[15:06] <mhwood> Tap, tap. Is this thing on?
[15:10] <hpottinger> oh, hey, sorry, distracted... meeting time!
[15:11] <hpottinger> this is a pretty sparsely-attended meeting, eh?
[15:11] <hpottinger> we need one more for quorum
[15:12] <helix84> hi, I'm here but I didn't study the details of Ds-2487
[15:13] <helix84> are we doing a backlog review or is this for 5.2 planning?
[15:13] <hpottinger> DS-2487, in a nutshell, DSpace 5 seems to be a bit unpleasant with existing statistics cores
[15:13] <mhwood> Backlog review is at 1600 UTC, I think?
[15:13] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2487 ] - [DS-2487] Pre-5 Solr usage stats geo information may get lost when upgrading to 5 - DuraSpace JIRA
[15:14] <hpottinger> backlog hour is after the meeting, the dev meeting is in progress, if you can stay
[15:14] <helix84> I'll be here on and off
[15:14] <hpottinger> helix84: I *think* you may have run into the issue described by DS-2487?
[15:14] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2487 ] - [DS-2487] Pre-5 Solr usage stats geo information may get lost when upgrading to 5 - DuraSpace JIRA
[15:16] <hpottinger> OK, well, as you can see from the notes on 2487, I wrestled with the issue yesterday, but got an e-mail from Andrea telling me she was on the track for a solution
[15:16] <helix84> I might have, but it's really low-priority for me
[15:17] <hpottinger> I will continue working with her, I think she's close, if anyone is interested in collorating on a fix for this (testing with your own stats cores) let me know
[15:19] <hpottinger> I can see from the notes from the 3/4/15 meeting, tdonohue is a the DuraSpace Summit in Washington, DC this week
[15:19] <mhwood> Sounds like that's about all there is to say, for now, on this topic?
[15:20] <hpottinger> mhwood: yes, would love to have other people available to help test any PRs that come in the next day or so, I think DS-2487 is serious enough we'll want to do a 5.2 release for it?
[15:20] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2487 ] - [DS-2487] Pre-5 Solr usage stats geo information may get lost when upgrading to 5 - DuraSpace JIRA
[15:21] <mhwood> I would say yes, losing track of stat. records is serious.
[15:21] <hpottinger> indeed
[15:21] <helix84> I have a slightly related question. Did you ever migrate events from logs to Solr or ES using solr-stats-converter?
[15:22] <hpottinger> pitchforks and torches serious :-\
[15:22] <mhwood> Oh, yes, when we moved to Solr-based stat.s we had to load all the old records of course. That was some time ago.
[15:23] <hpottinger> helix84: many years ago, I did migrate from dspace.log stats to Solr stats using solr-stats-converter
[15:23] <helix84> all it ever gives me are collection_view events, I don't get item_views or bitstream downloads
[15:23] <helix84> if you get a chance, try it on a single-day log file to see whether you can confirm
[15:24] <mhwood> The converter recognizes two log formats (old and new). Did it use the one that matches your logs?
[15:25] <helix84> mhwood: probably not, which DSpace version are old ones?
[15:25] <mhwood> Sorry, I don't recall.
[15:26] <helix84> I see, -n or --newformat
[15:26] <helix84> If the log files have been created with DSpace 1.6 or newer
[15:26] <helix84> there's my problem :)
[15:26] <helix84> thanks
[15:26] <mhwood> You're welcome.
[15:26] <hpottinger> fixing problems, like a boss
[15:27] * pbecker enters the meeting.
[15:27] <pbecker> sorry for being late.
[15:28] <hpottinger> so, who wants to be the RC for 5.2?
[15:28] <pbecker> hpottinger: do we already have a plan for 5.2?
[15:28] <hpottinger> plan: fix DS-2487, release 5.2
[15:28] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2487 ] - [DS-2487] Pre-5 Solr usage stats geo information may get lost when upgrading to 5 - DuraSpace JIRA
[15:29] <pbecker> I see, good idea.
[15:31] <mhwood> Anything else that might go into a 5.2?
[15:32] <helix84> https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+milestone%3A5.2
[15:32] <kompewter> [ Pull Requests · DSpace/DSpace · GitHub ] - https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+milestone%3A5.2
[15:33] <helix84> depending on when 5.2 is planned, I may bother CTU developers for some REST fixes, too
[15:34] <hpottinger> woah, check it out, there's already a 5.2 milestone
[15:35] <hpottinger> yes, are there any other fires burning that we need to know about? how can we help?
[15:36] <helix84> as always, test bug fixes that already have PRs
[15:36] <hpottinger> do we have a list to point people to?
[15:37] <helix84> the usual: https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+label%3Abug
[15:37] <kompewter> [ Pull Requests · DSpace/DSpace · GitHub ] - https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+label%3Abug
[15:38] <hpottinger> wait... some of those might need to be closed, yes?
[15:38] <helix84> hpottinger: verified and merged
[15:38] <hpottinger> hmm... DSPR#850 is marked for 5.1
[15:38] <kompewter> [ https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/850 ] - [DS-2131] SWORDv2 ingestion fails with NullPointerException when replacing a non archived item by KevinVdV
[15:39] <helix84> running to buy food, bbl
[15:39] <hpottinger> OK, I am going to move open PRs in the 5.1 milestone to the 5.2 milestone
[15:40] <mhwood> hpottinger: thanks. helix84: thanks for stopping by.
[15:41] <hpottinger> https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/milestones/5.2
[15:41] <kompewter> [ Issues · DSpace/DSpace · GitHub ] - https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/milestones/5.2
[15:41] <hpottinger> so, DSPR#850 requires a SWORD client to test, anyone set up to do that kind of testing?
[15:41] <kompewter> [ https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/850 ] - [DS-2131] SWORDv2 ingestion fails with NullPointerException when replacing a non archived item by KevinVdV
[15:43] <hpottinger> And it looks like DSPR#846 has +2 for merging, any objections?
[15:43] <kompewter> [ https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/846 ] - DS-2424 workaround for bug in xoai library. changed ref to red for Filter in Contexts by christian-scheible
[15:44] <mhwood> SWORD is one of those things I keep telling myself I should tinker with.
[15:44] <mhwood> None from me.
[15:44] <hpottinger> I'm merging it now :-)
[15:46] <hpottinger> do we leave DS-2424 open?
[15:46] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2424 ] - [DS-2424] Context Filter not working in OAI interface - DuraSpace JIRA
[15:48] <mhwood> I think so. The dependency should be fixed.
[15:48] <hpottinger> I agree, I need to backport SHA 16b4560 to the 5x branch
[15:51] <hpottinger> OK, 16b4560 is backported to the dspace-5_x branch
[15:51] <mhwood> Thanks!
[15:53] <hpottinger> any takers for the 5.2 RC job?
[15:54] <mhwood> I think there's only you and me here at the moment. We need a call on the ML.
[15:54] <hpottinger> if no one else wants the job, I'll do it, since DS-2487 is a blocker for my repository's upgrade
[15:54] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2487 ] - [DS-2487] Pre-5 Solr usage stats geo information may get lost when upgrading to 5 - DuraSpace JIRA
[15:54] <mhwood> Thank you.
[15:55] <hpottinger> mhwood, good point, even if I did volunteer, with only two of us here it doesn't matter, shall we adjourn to the backlog meeting?
[15:55] <pbecker> mhwood: still here, but not much to say.
[15:55] <mhwood> Oh, sorry.
[15:56] <pbecker> no problem.
[15:56] <mhwood> Any other business? We have about 04:00 before next meeting.
[15:56] <hpottinger> we *do* need more people with release experience, and bugfix releases are a good way to get that experience
[15:57] <pbecker> It's not the missing experience, it's the lack of free time.....
[15:57] <pbecker> (at least for me)
[15:57] <hpottinger> it's a negative feedback loop
[15:57] <hpottinger> good thing it's a documented process
[15:59] <mhwood> On the one hand, there's no reason why the RC has to do anything time-consuming, if he can marshall others to take on those tasks. On the other hand, if not, the RC is stuck with those tasks.
[15:59] <hpottinger> however, in my case, my current work load aligns with the DSpace release schedule: we need stats, and we need a new upgrade...
[16:00] <mhwood> So, we have a 5.2 RC unless someone wants to challenge him for the job. Any other business? Or shall we close the meeting and move on to Jira?
[16:01] <hpottinger> let's work this backlog, these crickets are getting annoying :-)
