[20:01] <tdonohue> Hello all, welcome. It's time for our weekly DSpace Developers Mtg. Agenda for today: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DevMtg+2016-06-29
[20:01] <kompewter> [ DevMtg 2016-06-29 - DSpace - DuraSpace Wiki ] - https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DevMtg+2016-06-29
[20:02] <tdonohue> So, the primary topic for today is 6.0. We'd really like to get this release out the door, but before we can do so, there's some more bug fixes to get through!
[20:03] <tdonohue> The good news is that, as of today, we no longer have any bugs flagged as "high priority". But, there's still a fair number of PRs flagged for 6.0 that could use review, verification, and possible merger
[20:04] <tdonohue> The PR list is still a bit "large", but there's a number that are flagged "work in progress" or "merge conflict" which may end up having to be rescheduled if they cannot be moved forward rapidly: https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+milestone%3A6.0
[20:04] <kompewter> [ Pull Requests · DSpace/DSpace · GitHub ] - https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+milestone%3A6.0
[20:06] <tdonohue> We do also have some JIRA tickets flagged from the 6.0 testathon (some of these are just awaiting documentation though). But, if you are looking to help us out, you could take a look at one that is "unclaimed" and help by creating a PR to fix it: https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3190?jql=resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20AND%20labels%20%3D%20testathon
[20:06] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3190 ] - [DS-3190] org.dspace.rdf.RDFConfiugartion throws IllegalAccessException - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:06] <kompewter> [ Issue Navigator - DuraSpace JIRA ] - https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3190?jql=resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20AND%20labels%20%3D%20testathon
[20:07] <tdonohue> So, since we are a seemingly smaller group today, I suspect our time may be best spent trying to review some of these PRs / tickets and working towards getting either a volunteer to *test* or a volunteer to help *fix* (as needed)
[20:08] <luizsan> Ok, I will move through the list of "unclaimed" and see what I can do.
[20:08] <luizsan> A review, should be good.
[20:08] <tdonohue> luizsan: that'd be wonderful! We'd appreciate the help in moving some of these forward
[20:09] <tdonohue> Before we jump into a review, are there any other topics that folks want to bring up specifically around 6.0? (Just want to be sure we have an opportunity to discuss anything someone feels is highest priority at this time)
[20:11] <tdonohue> ok, not hearing anything
[20:11] <mhwood> We do need to decide fairly soon that we have a "good enough" 6.0 and reluctantly defer the rest to 6.1.
[20:11] <hpottinger> anybody who wants to can feel free to test DSPR#1449
[20:11] <kompewter> [ https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/1449 ] - [DS-3217] fix more than one test by hardyoyo
[20:11] <mhwood> I'd like it to be perfect, but the patches have come in faster than they are being merged.
[20:12] <tdonohue> mhwood: I agree. I think we are getting *very close* to a "good enough" 6.0. But, I suspect we need to do a quick review of outstanding tickets / PRs for anything we feel is "must have" (versus small bugs that could be "lived with" until 6.1)
[20:12] <mhwood> Sure, that's part of the decision.
[20:13] <tdonohue> So, that said, how about a "quick review" of our outstanding 6.0 Testathon tickets? I want to see if we can run through these quickly and see if any need prioritized / more immediate volunteers
[20:13] <mhwood> Sure.
[20:13] <tdonohue> https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3220?jql=resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20AND%20labels%20%3D%20testathon
[20:13] <kompewter> [ Issue Navigator - DuraSpace JIRA ] - https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3220?jql=resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20AND%20labels%20%3D%20testathon
[20:13] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3220 ] - [DS-3220] Browse jump to not working correctly when more than 1 word is entered - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:13] <tdonohue> starting at DS-3220 (which looks to need a volunteer)
[20:13] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3220 ] - [DS-3220] Browse jump to not working correctly when more than 1 word is entered - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:14] <tdonohue> This is a bug that, while annoying, doesn't seem highest priority (but if someone wants to claim it, feel free)
[20:15] <tdonohue> it's already flagged as "trivial" priority, so we'll leave it at that
[20:15] <tdonohue> next DS-3209
[20:15] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3209 ] - [DS-3209] Runtime Exception (Can't Create Identifier) on Items During AIP Restore - Restore Fails - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:16] <tdonohue> This one I think is actually a significant issue that needs fixing (we cannot have AIP restoration failing). It has a PR, but needs final verification (as it's had a lot of discussion)
[20:16] <luizsan> hpottinger: I gave the idea about the calendar, but I run the test didn't get the error, I don't know why. [DS-3217]
[20:16] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3217 ] - [DS-3217] testGetCurrent fails if run from 23 UTC to 24 UTC - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:17] <tdonohue> for 3209, I'm going to flag the PR has "high priority" now as I think we need a decision on it
[20:17] <tdonohue> DS-3200
[20:17] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3200 ] - [DS-3200] Deleting item generates error - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:18] <tdonohue> this one is *fixed* by DS-3179 (closed today). I'll close it

[20:18] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3199 ] - [DS-3199] Editing bitstream adding new embargo date generates error when saving - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:19] <tdonohue> comment says 3199 might be a duplicate of DS-3165 (which is already fixed/closed)
[20:19] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3165 ] - [DS-3165] Cannot assign a group READ policy in XMLUI - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:19] <luizsan> hpottinger: I can handle this one: https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3220

[20:20] <hpottinger> I like all the volunteering going on here today, thanks luizsan!
[20:20] <tdonohue> 3199: I'll claim it and verify if it's fixed
[20:20] <tdonohue> DS-3195
[20:20] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3195 ] - [DS-3195] Show all my archived submissions generates error - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:21] <tdonohue> claimed by mhwood... noted as possibly related to DS-3200 / DS-3179 (both closed)
[20:21] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3200 ] - [DS-3200] Deleting item generates error - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:21] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3179 ] - [DS-3179] Collection admin, edit item no authorization to remove file - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:22] <mhwood> OK, I'll test with current code.
[20:22] <tdonohue> thanks mhwood
[20:22] <tdonohue> next, DS-3193
[20:22] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3193 ] - [DS-3193] retrieveLink for bitstreams in REST API does not include /rest - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:23] <tdonohue> 3193 sounds like a possible minor bug in REST API
[20:24] <tdonohue> flagging this as needs volunteer for now... as it needs verification first, then possible fix
[20:24] <luizsan> tdonohue: I can try this one as well, https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3193
[20:24] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3193 ] - [DS-3193] retrieveLink for bitstreams in REST API does not include /rest - DuraSpace JIRA

[20:25] <tdonohue> luizan: thanks! that'd be wonderful!
[20:25] <tdonohue> next up, DS-3190
[20:25] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3190 ] - [DS-3190] org.dspace.rdf.RDFConfiugartion throws IllegalAccessException - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:25] <tdonohue> 3190 is fixed, just awaiting documentation updates from pbecker
[20:25] <tdonohue> DS-3183
[20:25] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3183 ] - [DS-3183] Bitstream Format Registry make LICENSE and CC LICENSE not deletable - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:26] <tdonohue> This is a "known issue". I don't think this is one we'll resolve for 6.0 (as it'd be a bigger change at the last moment). So, I suspect this needs rescheduled (possibly to fix in the new UI work)
[20:26] <mhwood> Yes.
[20:27] <tdonohue> updated it so it's no longer in our list
[20:27] <tdonohue> next up, DS-3180
[20:27] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3180 ] - [DS-3180] Collection admin can not delete item - JSPUI Test Plan Ref COL4 - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:27] <tdonohue> this one is fixed too :) Duplicate of DS-3179 issue
[20:27] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3179 ] - [DS-3179] Collection admin, edit item no authorization to remove file - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:28] <tdonohue> closed
[20:28] <tdonohue> DS-3177 is next
[20:28] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3177 ] - [DS-3177] collection template language qualifiers ignored - JSPUI Test Plan Ref SUB13 - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:28] <tdonohue> has a comment that says it's now unreproduceable
[20:30] <mhwood> Well, it takes certain conditions to reproduce it.
[20:30] <mhwood> It sounds like a real bug. Another place where DSpace cares more about some fields than others and behaves differently.
[20:31] <tdonohue> Ok, will leave it open then. Whoever can get to it can try and reverify and see if we can find a fix.
[20:32] <tdonohue> DS-3176 is next (assigned to mhwood)
[20:32] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3176 ] - [DS-3176] Collection template not editable - DSpace 6 JSPUI Test Plan Ref COL8 - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:33] <mhwood> On my list. Might this be yet another one fixed by 3179?
[20:33] <mhwood> Well, I will find out.
[20:34] <tdonohue> maybe. There were issues with Community / Collection Admin permissions in general
[20:34] <tdonohue> next up, DS-3164
[20:34] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3164 ] - [DS-3164] Item statistic displays UUID of bitstreams instead of name - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:34] <tdonohue> minor issue, but annoying
[20:35] <mhwood> Yes.
[20:35] <tdonohue> and it's related to a few other areas where the UUID is displayed (see linked tickets). So, there's several minor issues here that need resolution
[20:36] <tdonohue> leaving this as needs volunteer for now
[20:36] <tdonohue> next up, DS-3163
[20:36] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3163 ] - [DS-3163] Error while harvesting content from demo.dspace.org - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:37] <tdonohue> This sounds like a duplicate of DS-3086 (which was fixed)
[20:37] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3086 ] - [DS-3086] OAI Harvester is broken (NPEs around several classes) - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:37] <mhwood> Needs re-testing then.
[20:38] <tdonohue> yes, agreed
[20:38] <tdonohue> I'll claim this one and retest this week.
[20:38] <tdonohue> DS-3161 is next
[20:38] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3161 ] - [DS-3161] XMLUI Cannot Configure a harvested collection - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:39] <tdonohue> same thing. Sounds like the fixed 3086. I'll claim this as well
[20:39] <tdonohue> DS-3159
[20:39] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3159 ] - [DS-3159] I got an error again when I used the button to request an embargoed item - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:40] <tdonohue> already linked up with a possible related (and fixed) issue. Assigned to KevinVdV. I'll ping him to retest
[20:41] <tdonohue> DS-3157 is next
[20:41] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3157 ] - [DS-3157] browse by author displays authority key instead of value - JSPUI Test Plan Ref DISC6 - XMLUI DISC8 - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:41] <tdonohue> Another UUID display issue, needs volunteer
[20:42] <tdonohue> as is the next one... DS-3156
[20:42] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3156 ] - [DS-3156] Strange string instead of author name in discover - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:43] <tdonohue> Do these bugs still exist? Does Discover really display a UUID? That sounds odd to me, but maybe I've missed that
[20:44] <tdonohue> Oh, I guess it does...for just *some* authors. I can see it on demo.dspace.org... http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/browse?type=author
[20:44] <kompewter> [ Browsing by Author ] - http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/browse?type=author
[20:45] <tdonohue> Post-meeting, I'll email the Committer list to see if we can find a quick volunteer for these... they need fixing for 6.0 obviously as that's a pretty big usability issue
[20:45] <tdonohue> next up, DS-3155
[20:45] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3155 ] - [DS-3155] non conformant to accessibility standards - DSpace 6 JSPUI Test Plan Ref VIEW8 - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:45] <mhwood> Odd. Some links are being built with &authority= and others with &value=. I wonder what makes the difference.
[20:46] <hpottinger> oh... I wonder if this might be Authority in the mix
[20:46] <tdonohue> yes, it sounds like 3156 and 3157 have to do with the authority system or something
[20:46] <mhwood> So if there is a matching authority record we get one, and if not we get the other?
[20:46] <hpottinger> Mirage2 on 5.5 does this, too, I think
[20:47] <tdonohue> 3155 is definitely not ideal, but something that could be fixed in 6.1
[20:47] <mhwood> That's going to be a lot of slogging through code doing simple fixes, I think.
[20:48] <tdonohue> yes, 3155 seems like it could take a bit of time, hence probably a 6.1 fix
[20:48] <tdonohue> DS-3153 is next... oh hey, I guess I claimed this. I need to actually fix this now
[20:48] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3153 ] - [DS-3153] Binary Release packages are missing local.cfg.EXAMPLE and README.md - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:49] <mhwood> :-)
[20:49] <tdonohue> (added to my local list)
[20:49] <tdonohue> next up, DS-3148
[20:49] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3148 ] - [DS-3148] Missing left padding - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:50] <tdonohue> sounds like a minor CSS issue. Leaving as needs volunteer for now
[20:50] <mhwood> Yeah
[20:50] <tdonohue> DS-3147
[20:50] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3147 ] - [DS-3147] Empty author lookup returns cryptic error - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:51] <tdonohue> huh. yea, that's not pretty. May need to find a volunteer on this one
[20:51] <hpottinger> ah, if only we used form validation...
[20:51] <tdonohue> (new UI will have it ;)
[20:51] <hpottinger> nextUI++
[20:52] <luizsan> Can I ask something about the https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3164?
[20:52] <kompewter> [ [DS-3164] Item statistic displays UUID of bitstreams instead of name - DuraSpace JIRA ] - https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3164?
[20:52] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3164 ] - [DS-3164] Item statistic displays UUID of bitstreams instead of name - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:52] <mhwood> I have to step out for just a moment.
[20:52] <tdonohue> luizsan: sure, if it's relatively quick :)
[20:53] <luizsan> tdonohue: it is specific about that issue, I will put in the ticket.
[20:53] <tdonohue> ok, sounds good
[20:53] <tdonohue> moving along (almost out of time here, and just a few tickets left in our list): DS-3146
[20:53] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3146 ] - [DS-3146] NPE when starting a new JSPUI submission with BTE metadata import enabled - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:54] <tdonohue> This has a PR which I've been testing and giving feedback on. It's still not 100% fixed, but getting close. I just flagged its PR has "high priority"
[20:54] <tdonohue> so, last one up.. DS-3140
[20:54] <kompewter> [ https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-3140 ] - [DS-3140] METSRightsCrosswalk NPE During AIP Restore - No Anonymous Read - DuraSpace JIRA
[20:55] <tdonohue> This one has a PR but needs a tester. I'd been following this one too, but need to get back to it
[20:55] <tdonohue> also likely a high priority, as it breaks AIP restores
[20:56] <mhwood> Back
[20:56] <tdonohue> We just completed our list of JIRA tickets that were flagged "testathon" (as they were reported in 6.0 testathon)
[20:57] <tdonohue> Based on that review, We seem to be getting *rather close* here. There were some we left at "needs volunteer", but a lot we closed or just need "re-testing"
[20:58] <mhwood> So, can we make a list of "must have" tickets?
[20:58] <tdonohue> So, as a next step I'm going to email Committers to try and find more volunteers for the "needs volunteer" ones...and flag some higher priority PRs (ones we really *should* get into 6.0) as "high priority"
[20:59] <tdonohue> mhwood: we can start, yes. I can start such a list in our meeting notes (for next week). I might need help ensuring I don't overlook any though
[20:59] <hpottinger> thanks, tdonohue, that will help
[21:00] <mhwood> I am hoping to quickly get to a point where we can say, "unless there are new blockers, when this list is empty we ship. No new additions."
[21:01] <tdonohue> mhwood: I agree. I'll start that list with the PRs I just flagged (now) as high priority. Will add to it, and get a true list in our Mtg for next week
[21:01] <mhwood> Thanks. Let us know if we can help.
[21:01] <tdonohue> Here's the ones I just flagged high priority: https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aopen+label%3A%22high+priority%22
[21:01] <kompewter> [ Pull Requests · DSpace/DSpace · GitHub ] - https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aopen+label%3A%22high+priority%22
[21:02] <tdonohue> I'd encourage others to flag PRs as *high priority* if they are "must have" in 6.0
[21:02] <mhwood> OK.
[21:02] <tdonohue> And I'll start a list of JIRA tickets too for next week's meeting
[21:02] <mhwood> More thanks.
[21:03] <mhwood> Anything else for me? I need to run.
[21:04] <tdonohue> With that, we'll close up today's meeting. I'd encourage folks to keep helping us test PRs (especially *high priority* ones) and/or claim unclaimed 6.0 testathon tickets
[21:04] <tdonohue> Otherwise, talk to you next week (or on IRC in the meantime). Thanks all!
[21:04] <mhwood> 'bye all.
